I just wanted to take a minute and give a preview of some of the features that are coming your way in the next week or so.  The biggest addition, in my opinion, is the addition of tagging.  You will be able to tag people (@) or tag locations (#).  The people tagging will work similarly to Twitter’s, where it will provide a link to the tagged person’s page.  You will also be able to ‘hash-tag’ locations by including words following a ‘#’.  Here’s an example:

Fraser’s Pub was tagged with both ‘pizza’ and ‘beer’ in addition to 3 different people being mentioned.

The second new feature is the location page.  The location page has long been neglected, but no more! Soon you’ll be able to see tags that people have left and nearby locations along with posts from that location.  You can add location tags separately from posts on this page as well.  Here’s a screen:

Lokuu’s going through some scheduled down time at the moment.  It should have started around 10 and shouldn’t last too much longer.  Our host is migrating some servers for better performance.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

I’ll start with the good: Lokuu has a few new features rolling out.  The bad?  They’re not very exciting.  The ability to search for users to find new friends is back.  It’s now on its own page and a link can be found in the submenu under “Profile”.  There’re a handful of other small UI changes (including a new post bar!) and a few backend changes to boost speed and security that you probably won’t notice, so feel free to take them for granted.  Look for some more noteworthy changes next time!

Yes!  Gone are the days when you were locked out of your Lokuu account when you forget your password!  OK, so maybe it’s not the most exciting feature, but it’s useful.  When you click the link, you’ll be asked for an email address for Lokuu to send the reset URL.  This is Lokuu’s first outting into email, so hopefully everything works out.  If it does, email notifications won’t be far behind!

The [slightly] revamped mobile site is up. The biggest change is the ability to comment on posts. As always, let me know if anything doesn’t look right.

After a few days of down time, Lokuu’s back!  While doing some server maintenence last Thursday, I messed a few things up, fixed them and then messed them up permanently.  End result:  we’re now with a new host (WebbyNode!  Woo!) and we lost two weeks of content.
